This is SNO-CAL: a “throwback” West Coast-style IPA. Back when IPA was clear and innocent, it was free to express its more aggressive hop bitterness and rustic, earthy citrus hop flavors and aromas without fear of ridicule. Nowadays, the IPA landscape has morphed into a pulpy haze. But we think that the American IPAs of yesteryear deserve another look. With Sno-Cal, we reached way back into the recipe box labeled “relics from the 2000s” to come up with a wonderful representation of a classic West Coast-style IPA in all its hazeless glory. Sno-Cal features that old familiar American IPA profile exhibiting wonderful flavors and aromas of earthy citrus with a subtle note of pine resin and a lingering hop bitterness balanced by a slightly sweet maltiness.
